An observable launch
A domain name on its own is not a launch. The website must be open to the public and look ready for real visitors. Parked domains, holding pages and obvious placeholders do not qualify.
What we look for
- The website is publicly reachable.
- It shows a clear purpose, product, service or body of content.
- It is more than a parked domain, placeholder or coming-soon page.
What the date means
First observed live is the earliest time LaunchIndex recorded the website meeting our publication standard. A site may have launched before we found it or changed after that point. We use this wording to keep the record useful without overstating its precision.
Coverage and corrections
LaunchIndex is an index of public observations, not an official registry, ownership record or quality rating. Coverage may be incomplete and listings can be wrong. If something needs attention, use the report form on the relevant launch page.
Definitions used in public research
A launch record is a publication-cleared website with a first-observed-live timestamp. A reporting period groups those timestamps by calendar date. Category, website type, audience, business model and technology describe available evidence at the report’s fixed source cutoff.
What aggregate reports exclude
Research snapshots exclude non-public, removed and publication-restricted listings when the snapshot is generated. Counts describe LaunchIndex coverage, not every website launched worldwide. Domain endings are reported as suffixes and must not be treated as verified locations.
Publication and correction standard
LaunchIndex Research records a source cutoff and methodology version before publishing a report. Published aggregate values do not silently change. If a material issue is found, the report receives a dated correction note while the original snapshot remains identifiable.
Sources and owner information
Observed evidence remains separate from owner-supplied information. Owner details appear only after control of the domain has been verified, and public corrections can be requested through the relevant launch profile or by contacting [email protected].
